Three months ago, SpiceJet announced their service of direct flights for Guwahati and Dhaka. But in such a short time, it has decided that they will not carry on with the direct flight service for the route anymore. SpiceJet has not been seeing the appropriate amount of passengers on the route and hence has decided to suspend the service on this route.
The Reason Might Be the Poor Business of the Route
SpiceJet expected that after launching a direct flight service, they will get a positive response from the people. When they didn’t get the desired number of people boarding the direct flights, initially they decided to reduce the number of flights from daily fights to only twice a week. Even then SpiceJet couldn’t seem to cover the cost for the route, so they have decided to strike the route out of their map.
Trade Between India and Bangladesh Might Get Hurt
When SpiceJet announced the launch of direct flight service for Dhaka and Guwahati, Sarbananda Sonowal, the Chief Minister of Assam marked the event as historic for the two destinations. He said that it will connect the neighbour countries and make the trade between nations an easier affair for everyone.
