Out of all the happenings and events in the aviation industry this year, the inauguration of Kannur International airport is surely a big landmark for India. This city in Kerala, which is strategically placed as a tourist destination attracts people from all of the country and even from beyond the borders, making it an equally attractive linking point for airlines. That is why shortly after the Kannur airport was operational, airlines started linking their domestic and international flights with KIAL. Air India Express was the first airline to start its services, followed by GoAir. Low-cost carrier, IndiGo will also be operating flights from Kannur airport in mid-January next year. As per a latest report, Kannur International Airport has charted out its schedule till December 15th. So read to know about the flights which will depart and arrive at KIAL this week.
Flights by Air India Express from Kannur
Firstly, Air India Express has scheduled two international flights daily till December 16 which will be to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Riyadh and Doha. The AI Express flight to Sharjah (IX 743) will depart at 9 AM on Friday and Saturday, while the one to Abu Dhabi and Riyadh will be on Thursday and Sunday. The flight to Doha (IX 773) will depart from KIAL at 08.20 PM on Saturday. Another flight to Abu Dhabi, with flight number IX 715 will take off at 9 AM while flight number IX721 to Riyadh will leave KIAL at 9.05 PM.
Further, the Air India Express flight IX 715 will leave for Abu Dhabi at 9 AM, while the flight to Riyadh (IX 721) will depart at 8.15 PM. Speaking of return flights, the Air India Express flight will fly from Abu Dhabi (IX716) and will arrive at 6 PM, and the flight back from Doha (IX 774) will land at 5.45 AM on Thursday and Sunday. Also, the flight coming from Riyadh will arrive on Friday and Saturday morning 8AM, and the one from Sharjah (IX 774) will arrive Saturday afternoon at 3:40 PM
Flights by GoAir from Kannur
Recently, the Wadia group owned airline, GoAir has also started services from Kannur International airport to Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai. Out of the three, the flight to Bangalore (G8624) departs from KIAL at 1 PM, while the flight to Hyderabad (G8 628) leaves at 5.20 PM. Lastly, the flight to Chennai (G8 631) leaves at 6.10 PM.
GoAir will also start a daily flight to Bangalore which will take off at 6.10 AM. While the return flight from Bangalore (G8-624) will touch down at 4:10 PM. Not only this but shortly in January, GoAir is also expected to start its international services, while IndiGo will start its operations on January 15.
