The Indian government has issued a set of new quarantine rules for the international passengers arriving India. As per the new rules, international passengers can be exempted from undergoing mandatory institutional quarantine by submitting a negative RT-PCR test report 72 hours before travelling. As per a PTI report, International passengers travelling to India can also get tested for COVID-19 at the airports where the facility is available. The Health Ministry of India has said that the passengers travelling will have to submit the necessary report on the portal of the Ministry of Civil Aviation through the concerned airlines before travelling. Quarantine Rules for International Passengers
The government has updated quarantine rules for international passengers. As per the new rules shared by the government of India, “Only for compelling reasons/ cases of human distress such as pregnancy, death in family, serious illness and parent(s) with children of the age of 10 years or below, home quarantine may be permitted for 14 days.”
Additionally, guidelines shared by the government state that any international passenger arriving India without a negative RT-PCR test report and seeks to be exempted from institutional quarantine, he/she can undergo a COVID-19 test at the airport if there is such a facility.
But for those international passengers who can’t produce a negative RT-PCR test report, they will have to undergo a mandatory institutional quarantine of 7 days and 7 days home quarantine as well.
In case the passenger has been exempted from the institutional quarantine, he/she will have to show the evidence of the same at the respective state counters on their mobile devices or any other kind of devices.
The passengers kept under institutional quarantine will be tested under ICMR protocol. In case they show no symptoms or very show mild symptoms, the passengers will still be allowed to go for home quarantine. They can even choose to go to the Covid Care Centre (both private and public).
The airlines shall provide all the dos and don’t for the passengers with their airline tickets and also must be advised to download the Aarogya Setu app.
