COPA Airlines, Panama’s national flag carrier is going to initiate the flights from ‘The Hub of Americas’ to San Francisco International Airport. COPA Airlines is going to start non-stop flights between San Francisco to Panama City Tocumen International Airport (PTY) from October 16th, 2021 as informed by the San Francisco Airport in a statement released by them last week.

COPA Airlines will be using one of its 13 Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft on the route and are planning to offer five non-stop flights between Panama City Tocumen International Airport (PTY) to San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Moreover, the passengers travelling from San Francisco with COPA Airlines would be able to connect to more than 50 destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America from Panama City.

COPA Airlines – History, Flight Configuration, and Schedule

COPA the acronym for Compañía Panameña de Aviación was founded on June 21, 1944, and initiated its operations on August 15, 1947. The Pan American World Airways held a 32% stake in this new start-up which was started by a group of Panamanian businessmen. The beginning of the operations for this airline consisted of only domestic flights and began their international flights to cities in the region in the 1970s while they faced cutthroat competition from Air Panamá Internacional.

The Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft which is going to be used by COPA Airlines on the route has a configuration of a three-class layout. In the standard economy, there are 126 seats. The Economy Extra consists of 24 recliner seats provided with extra legroom and larger overhead bins for carrying luggage. The business class seats encompass 16 folding bed-type seats and trailblazing 16-inch touch screens. However, passengers would be able to enjoy Copa Airlines’ Copa Showpass wireless entertainment system to access a wide variety of entertainment content on the flight in every class.
